Applications for chairs
What is a chair?
As a chair, you manage the committee’s meetings and keep the debate flowing while making sure that all rules are being followed by the delegates. The chair sets the stage with the roll call and the opening of the floor which they control throughout the duration of the meetings with the speakers’ list and responding to motions and yields. In order to be able to do so, chairs are familiar with the Rules of Procedure (RoP).
Additionally, and before the conference takes place, the chair is in charge of researching and proposing topics for their assigned committee and acquiring knowledge regarding these topics. The chair produces a Research Report about the topics which is then published for the delegates to be able to prepare for the conference.
